Sony Interactive Entertainment's PlayStation Network (PSN) is a digital media entertainment service for the PlayStation video game consoles. PSN was originally designed for the PlayStation video game systems, but it soon expanded to include smartphones, tablets, Blu-ray players, and high-definition televisions. This service provides access to games and other content on PlayStation consoles by means of accounts. The PlayStation Network is a gaming and media content distribution service run by Sony. PSN was created to operate with the PlayStation 3 game console by Sony. Streaming of music and video content is now available via the service, which has been expanded over time to include support for the PlayStation 4 (PS4), other Sony products, as well as gaming on PCs. The PlayStation Network operates under the supervision of Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI), competing with Microsoft's Xbox network.
